eSIM profiles

Deploy connected devices without touching a SIM card

Hologram eSIM profiles let devices download connectivity over the air, straight to an embedded chip, and get on the network without physical SIM management.

SIM-free provisioning

Download connectivity profiles directly to a device's embedded SIM chip using a QR code, activation code, or MDM platform.

Flexible delivery models

Choose direct downloads for per-device traceability or pooled downloads for simplified provisioning at scale.

Works with your hardware

Bring any device with a GSMA-compliant embedded SIM. Hologram delivers the profile; the hardware is up to you.

Deploy globally without physical SIM management

eSIM profiles let customers provision devices remotely, straight from Hologram to the device. Compatible with smartphones, tablets, gateways, routers, industrial IoT modules, and enterprise devices managed through MDM platforms. If the device has an embedded SIM chip and a standard profile management interface, it works with Hologram eSIM profiles.

Pick the provisioning model that fits

With direct downloads, each device gets its own unique QR code or activation URL for precise, traceable provisioning. With pooled downloads, a single shared link automatically assigns the next available profile from a batch, simplifying large-scale rollouts.

eSIM profiles and Hologram's platform

eSIM profiles connect to the same Hologram platform customers already use to monitor, manage, and automate their fleet. Pair with Conductor for rules-based profile management and automated recovery across devices.

FAQs

What is an eSIM profile?

An eSIM profile is a connectivity subscription delivered over the air to a device's embedded SIM chip. Instead of inserting a physical SIM card, the device downloads the profile through software, using a QR code, activation code, or device management platform.

What hardware is compatible?

Any device with a GSMA-compliant embedded SIM chip and a standard software interface for managing profile downloads. This includes smartphones, tablets, gateways, routers, industrial IoT modules, and devices managed through MDM platforms. Customers can source their own hardware and use Hologram profiles.

What's the difference between direct and pooled downloads?

With direct downloads, each device has its own unique activation code or QR code. With pooled downloads, a single shared link assigns the next available profile from a batch. Direct downloads offer tighter per-device control. Pooled downloads are better suited for large-scale provisioning workflows.

How does eSIM connectivity compare to a physical Hologram SIM?

Once activated, the underlying connectivity is the same. eSIM profiles access Hologram's global carrier network and the same data plans available on physical SIMs.

Who is this for?

eSIM profiles are a good fit for deployments using hardware with no physical SIM slot, or for teams who want to remove physical SIM management from their provisioning workflow entirely.
